Series Finale

I saw the Seinfeld series finale last weekend.

It first aired on May 14, 1998, and impressed my grandparents so much that they called friends and family during the first commercial break to tell them to tune in to NBC.

We didn't have cable tv when I was growing up. I missed the Seinfeld finale, and most of Seinfeld when it was on (and despite what my friend Rory says, this is a great tragedy). I only saw the first four seasons when my friend Cameron loaned me the DVDs a few years ago, and last month I bought seasons 5-9 on DVD.

What a great show. I enjoyed all of it, and because it's hard to detect sarcasm in text format, I know my friends enjoyed my timely pop culture references.

The only thing that spoiled it for me was a guest on 'Q' with Jian Ghomeshi, who gave away the ending to the finale a mere two days before I could watch it. I considered writing to him about it, but as Cameron pointed out to me, I can't really complain about a spoiler to a show that ended fifteen years ago.

In closing, here are some references that I get now:

-showmanship, George.
-Not that there's anything wrong with that.
-it's gold, Jerry!
